Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health - NPWH

The Challenge

Raise awareness of The National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health

In today’s fast changing medical environment, the disparities and differences in health care between men and women are growing and becoming increasingly clear. When it comes to care of women, the medical professionals best prepared to offer complete and comprehensive care are women’s health nurse practitioners (WHNPs). Hawthorne was charged with increasing visibility of WHNPs and raising awareness of The National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH), the profession’s signature group.

The Solution

Strategic communication to internal and external stakeholders

To meet NPWH’s needs, Hawthorne developed and executed a strategic communications plan that aligned with the organization’s mission—to ensure the provision of quality primary and specialty healthcare to women of all ages by women’s health nurse practitioners—and enhanced its brand. The plan included core message and strategy development led by Hawthorne to ensure the reach of NPWH’s internal and external stakeholders.

The Results

A leading voice in woman-focused healthcare

During Hawthorne’s relationship with NPWH we were able delve beneath the surface and work towards the full execution of the strategic plan. Our efforts resulted in the following; a white paper, video testimonials that aided recruitment and boosted member engagement, proactive media relations that resulted in interest from the Chicago Tribune, Vice News, Scrubs Magazine and other trade publications, greater participation at the organization’s annual conference, a well-received student reporter program, and a robust thought leadership platform that created opportunities for WHNPs to serve as experts in front of key audiences. Having been integral to the planning of NPWH’s inaugural summit around key health and wellness issues relating to middle-aged women and the establishment of a vital video and communications library, we are proud to have further positioned NPWH as a leading voice in the advocacy for nurse practitioners of women’s health and the ongoing conversation on woman-focused healthcare.
