With summer winding to a close, Evinrude brought their "Evinrude Edge" Demo Tour home to Milwaukee. The event, hosted less than 30 miles from their headquarters, offered a Evinrude a unique opportunity to promote the event and the company to a local audience. The outcome was broadcast, print, and online coverage featuring Evinrude products and spokespeople.
Ready for their close up
Milwaukee's NBC affiliate, WTMJ, sent a photographer out to the South Shore Yacht Club early on Thursday morning to promote the event to viewers. WTMJ’s morning show conducted a total of 6 live shots from the Demo Tour in Milwaukee. The story was then rebroadcasted during the midday show. In all, 5 spots directly promoted the event while the other 2 featured Evinrude employees and BRP Marine Group products.
WTMJ also promoted the event on their website.
Featured in the local section
Evinrude's local newspaper, The Journal Times, also came out to the event. Reporter Mick Burke took test drives with the Evinrude team and wrote about his experience in an article featured online and on the front page of the newspaper's local section the following day.
Coverage beyond Demo Tour
Business outlet, BizTimes Milwaukee, used the event to discuss Evinrude's recent announcement that their facility in Sturtevant, Wis., is now the headquarters for the newly established BRP Marine Group, formed when Evinrude's parent company, BRP, acquired boat-builder Alumacraft. The article featured an interview with Evinrude's senior vice president and general manager, Tracy Crocker, who discussed what the announcement means for the local economy and workforce. Crocker is also president of the BRP Marine Group.
