Matt joined Hawthorne Strategy Group as a Fellow in August 2018. After hearing about a previous employee’s experience at Hawthorne, Matt knew that Hawthorne would be a great fit for beginning his career in strategic communication.
Since joining Hawthorne, Matt has conducted integral research, supported Hawthorne partners, and aided in the building of a media strategy for the National Parks Conservation Association in support of the Indiana Dunes erosion project. As an enthusiast of all things media, Matt also supports a number of Hawthorne clients through media monitoring and outreach.
While pursuing his degrees, Matt worked as a Public Relations Intern for the Heartland Blood Centers, where he prepared promotional material for its summer blood drives. Following his time at Heartland, Matt served as a coach for the Chicago Athletic Club’s competitive climbing team, a leader for the DePaul Outdoor Recreation Program, and President of the DePaul Rock Climbing Club.
Matt graduated from DePaul University with a B.A. in public relations and advertising, with minors in both environmental studies and international politics, and later received his M.A. in public relations and advertising from DePaul, as well.
Outside of the office, Matt enjoys spending his time with family and friends. When he’s not hanging out with them at local Chicago concerts, you’ll likely find him hiking or climbing outdoors.
