An expert in media strategy, issues management, and reputation management, Tim Touhy joined Hawthorne Strategy Group in 2018. With more than 20 years of experience, he has received numerous awards for his leadership in crisis communications programs, public policy advocacy and strategic media relations. Tim enjoys working closely with his clients to develop tailored communication programs to support their business and organizational needs, drawing on his experience counseling CEO’s, CMO’s, CFO’s, and corporate communication leaders.
Tim’s vast career includes both public and private sector experience, serving as deputy press secretary for former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar and as the chief spokesperson for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, the nation’s second largest prosecutorial office. Previously, Tim served as the director of communications and public affairs for Navistar International Corporation, and was also a vice president at the public relations firm of Hill + Knowlton Strategies in the Chicago and Washington D.C. offices before that.
Tim was instrumental in leading a comprehensive media and community relations campaign at Hawthorne for the Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority’s public-private partnership to secure investment for the revitalization of the Chicago region’s third airport.
Tim holds a BA from Loyola University Chicago, and serves on the boards of the Illinois Arts Council Agency and the Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission.
