JADE WALKER
Passionate about sharing stories centering community and culture, Jade Walker helps organizations and audiences connect with the humans behind the screens of our technology-focused era. She is a recent graduate of DePaul University, where she earned her bachelor’s and master's degrees in Communication and Media.
Jade’s focus on research, storytelling, and creative problem solving helps translate complex ideas into strategic communications and compelling social content that supports client growth. At Hawthorne, she supports Choose Chicago, the Women’s Business Development Center, and the DuSable Black History Museum & Education Center by conducting research, developing messaging, drafting content and media outreach.
Before Hawthorne, Jade worked as a communications and media relations assistant at DePaul University, where she wrote articles for the university’s website and internal newsletter, drafted social media content and secured impactful and on-message earned media coverage in outlets including Block Club Chicago, WBEZ and Chicago Catholic.
Jade also worked with grassroots organization Weaving the American Dream to refresh their online presence, develop messaging, create social media content and support a community showcase event with collateral and onsite staffing. Jade elevated the presence of the organization within their neighborhood while prioritizing participant privacy and authentic community-building.
After hours, you might find Jade browsing a handmade art market, crocheting in the park while listening to an audiobook or attending local concerts.
