MALLORY LaPLANTE

Mallory LaPlante brings a background in journalism, public sector communications, and strategic storytelling to her work at Hawthorne.  

​

She is a graduate of Michigan State University, where she earned a B.A. in Journalism and is currently pursuing an M.A. in Digital Communication and Media Arts at DePaul University. At Hawthorne, Mallory supports the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, Solar Powers Illinois, the Chinese American Service League, and the Big Shoulders Fund, assisting in media outreach, social media content creation, and research. 

Prior to joining Hawthorne, Mallory worked on the Communications & Engagement team at the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), where she developed website articles, promotional videos, and social media content to increase public engagement with Chicagoland area planning initiatives.

She also worked at the American Burn Association, where she supported promotional efforts for the 2026 Annual Meeting through media outreach, social media content and blog writing.  

After hours, you can find Mallory walking the Lakefront Trail, taking a Solidcore class, or exploring new restaurants throughout Chicago.
